posticon Music Stores

Where have they all gone?!?!?! There's practically no where to buy cds... The Wiz closed down practically everywhere, 33th street, 46th street in the city, steinway street here in astoria. Did the Wiz go bankrupt or something... HMV is another one.. there was down on 34th street it was huge...i loved it i was there 2-3 times a week..they closed it down..and made a freaking victoria's secret emoticon There's still one across from where The Wiz used to be on 46th street.. Sam Goody in the Manhattan Mall is no more either..although there stil reconstructing the mall..so maybe they will put another music store there...hopefully. There's still coconuts on steinway street..thank god for that also.. I need my music stores... I don't want to have to resort to downloading music off the net for hours and hours...or buying the cd off amazon or some place else. I actually like going out and buying a cd and spending some time checking out old/new cds..and imports..and checking out the mags.. ugg this sucks..

Re: Music Stores

I feel your pain.

We actually have a fair amount of stores, but the "corporate" ones in the mall (like Sam Goody, etc.) have totally done away with their used CD section and their "bargain bins." So now if you want to buy a CD there, you are forced to pay $15-20 for it, even if it's old (like most of the ones I buy). How crappy! And they wonder why everyone downloads music off the internet!

However, the good news is that the little "mom and pop" CD stores, of which there are two in my town on the same block, lol, now have a HUGE used CD section, as well as a fair amount of imports and vinyls. So they now get my business, rather than the Wal-Marts of the music industry!
